First remove the old faucet. Usually you will find a screw at the base of the faucet and under the sink where the faucet is secured. Undo these screws and repeat the procedure with the handles. Remove all the parts and clean the surface before installing the new faucet. Make sure that you have all the right bathroom faucet parts.

First install the faucet gasket and apply plumber's putty to keep the gasket secure and keep the construction from leaking.

Assemble the faucet valves for hot and cold water and put them in the appropriate places (left and right of the faucet for hot and cold water).

Screw on the valve tailpieces to keep them in place on the sink.

Connect the hoses from the valves to the faucet spout.

Turn on the water to check if there are any leaks. If there are leaks they can often be fixed by applying more putty and reinstalling the valves.

This procedure can also be used for repairing a bathroom faucet. Often cleaning the parts and reinstalling them will solve a faucet problem. Replacing the washers on the inside of the valves needs to be done every few years to prevent leaks.

Maintaining Bathroom Faucets

Bathroom faucets are easy to maintain but need to be cleaned on a regular basis:

Use a mild soap and water solution to keep the faucet clean.

Every now and then you should clean the faucet with some vinegar and water or even bleach to reduce the risk of water stains developing.

DIY centers often have faucets on offer for low prices and it pays off to look around and compare faucet prices first before you buy. If bathroom faucet repair has failed and you need to replace your faucet, consider looking for a discount bathroom faucet.
