The wireless chimes are battery operated. The button is mounted on the exterior of the door with the receiver unit being placed inside the house. The kits come with detailed instruction books and with a guarantee on the product. Make sure to keep the box and the receipt for future reference. (If you do need to return a door chime kit, make sure you've rounded up all the parts and returned them to the package.)Technology and Door ChimesSome door bell chimes have turned into personal home safety centers and are outfitted with additional features such as cameras and alarm systems. Often these devices function as perfectly normal door chimes but contain wireless technology to send a video signal to a home computer or to trigger an alarm if someone jiggles the door. With these specialty items it's always best to seek the assistance of a professional to install the unit. (Also, as you might suspect, these specialty door chimes are more expensive than their "plain Jane" counterparts.)Continue to: Factors to Consider Before Buying Wireless Door Chimes Related ArticlesHome Improvement - Let Us Get Well Versed With the BasicsBuy a New Home or Remodel the Existing One - What Should You Do?
